Lightning Policy
Please be advised.
Any lightning within a 10 mile radius will cause a complete stoppage of play on all fields. Every five seconds that pass between the lightning and thunder equals one mile. If the thunder is inside of (50) seconds of the lightning policy, then play must be suspended.
Seek shelter in a safe building that is fully enclosed with a roof, walls and floor, such as the concession stand or in a safe vehicle such as a hard-topped car, SUV, minivan, bus etc. Make sure all doors are closed and windows are rolled up. Do not touch any metal surfaces. DUGOUTS ARE NOT SAFE SHELTER!
In the event there aren't enough vehicles to provide safe shelter, take shelter in the concession stand.
Play will resume 30 minutes AFTER the last thunder was heard.
The National Lightning Safety Institute says:
- "If you can see it (lightning), flee it (take shelter)."
- "If you can hear it (thunder, clear it (suspend activities)."
