Near the conclusion of the regular Spring Season, the coaches and commissioners select an All-Star team from the PINTO, MUSTANG, BRONCO and PONY divisions. All-Star participation requires an additional fee (TBD). There are no All-Star teams at the end of the Fall season.
If your daughter really enjoys the game, we encourage you to consider playing All-Stars next summer. It's a great opportunity to accelerate your daughter's skill development, gain valuable experience playing against a higher level of competition, and build lasting friendships. The amount of learning and bonding that occurs during the all star season is considerable.
During the spring season, the coaches will ask parents to indicate if their daughter is interested in playing All-Stars. Depending on interest level, there may or may not need to be try-outs. All-Star teams are formed towards the end of the spring season and practice for a few weeks before playing in two "warm-up" tournaments (usually in early June), and then competing in the PONY League Sectionals against teams from the greater Austin area. The Regionals and the World Series follow, for teams that play well enough to qualify, which could mean playing until the middle of July.
While it is far away on the calendar, it does require some advance planning because your daughter will need to be available for practice (usually twice a week) and weekend tournaments from late May through mid-July.
So if you think your daughter might be interested in All-Stars next summer, be sure to keep those dates open (when planning camps, vacations, etc), and more information will be sent out during the spring season. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the league leadership or anyone who played or coached this summer.
