SHETLAND LOCAL RULES (Ages 5-6) (REVISED 2-7-06)
PONY Girls Softball Rules and Regulations shall govern except as modified below:
1. Coaches (only) shall pitch the entire game from any distance (in the discretion of the coach). If
no hit after four (4) hit-able coach pitches, use the tee. No strikeouts or walks.
2. Coaches shall serve as catcher.
3. No base stealing.
4. Score will not be kept.
5. Batter/baserunner may be put out at 1B or other bases and shall return to the dugout or stay on
bases. Coaches decide before each game how they want to play it.
6. Games are limited to one hour. It is the responsibility of the coaches to end the game as close to
the one-hour limit as possible.
7. All players on the team shall play in the field each inning.
8. All players on the team shall bat each inning.
9. HELMETS: All players must wear an approved helmet with facemask and chinstrap.
10. Coaches (maximum of 3 not including the pitcher and catcher) may coach players by standing
with them in the field.
11. No on-deck batters. All equipment must be kept inside the dugout.
12. Coaches must carry the players’ release forms with them at all practices and games. This is
league liability issue. If you are not going to be at a game or practice, please make sure your
assistant has these forms.
